FAQs
-
What neighborhoods does Walk & Wag serve?
Walk & Wag serves the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area. For some outer locations, a surcharge may apply.
-
What are Walk & Wag’s credentials?
We are licensed, bonded and insured through Business Insurers of the Carolinas– and come highly recommended by local veterinarians. Lisa Kang, the owner, has been growing the business right here in Chapel Hill since 2010. She handpicks everyone on her incredible team of professional dog walkers and pet sitters.
-
How does Walk & Wag stay in touch with us?
Whether for off-leash dog walks, overnight cat sitting or any other service, we provide a daily report detailing walk lengths, locations, feedings and more via the client portal in Time To Pet. We even provide photos and short videos.
-
How many dogs do you walk at one time?
Just one: yours. (Unless you have more than one dog.) We care for pets from one household at a time. The only exception is if you request a doggie play date.
-
Do you walk in all types of weather?
Absolutely. We always get dogs out – in rain, sleet or snow. If the weather gets downright dangerous, we still go out, but come back home for indoor play as soon as possible.
-
What if I extend my out-of-town stay?
We always request you to let us know you’re back home and your pets are back in your care. If you cannot access the client portal in Time To Pet to contact the team member caring for your pets, please call, text or email them directly.
If we don’t hear from you, we try to contact you. If we can’t contact you, we continue service (at the agreed upon rate) until your pets are back in your care.
-
Do I have to pay a deposit for services?
Monthly/Daily Services do not require a deposit.
For Vacation Services, we charge 100% of the fee two weeks prior to the scheduled start date. If you cancel one week before the service starts, you will receive a 50% refund. After that, the service is non-refundable.
-
What if I need to cancel?
Monthly/Daily Service Cancellation: Please give at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel a prearranged service – a walk or pet sit. For cancellations of 24 hours or less, you will be charged 100% of the fee.
Vacation Schedule Cancellation: Please give as much notice as possible when canceling or altering vacation services. You will be charged 100% of the fee two weeks prior to the scheduled start date. If you cancel by one week before the service start date, you will receive a 50% refund. After that, the service is non-refundable.
Due to the demand for our amazing team members, we turn away clients for the time you’ve reserved. During state of emergency weather conditions, services may be cancelled without penalty.
-
Do you provide last-minute service?
Yes. We try our best to accommodate all last-minute requests (although during busy holiday times, it’s not always possible). Services scheduled less than 24 hours in advance are charged an additional $6 per visit.
-
Are you available on holidays?
Yes. But schedule early, please. Coveted holiday spots get filled up weeks, months and even a year in advance. There’s an additional $12 holiday fee pet visit for New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Easter, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
-
What forms of payment do you accept?
Walk & Wag accepts payments with Visa, Mastercard or American Express paid through the client portal. Monthly invoicing for our weekly customers is available. -
Should I provide a gratuity?
We encourage our clients to provide gratuities. You may include gratuity on your invoice on your account or add an auto gratuity in the client portal. You may also provide cash directly to the team member. They will greatly appreciate your generosity.
-
Do you train dogs?
Although we are dog savvy, we are not professional trainers, but we can recommend highly respected local trainers based on your pet’s specific needs. Plus, our team members can work with you to reinforce any training methods you are using.
