Bayard grew up around animals and has had nearly every kind of pet – dogs, cats, parrots, turtles, lizards, snakes, hamsters, rabbits, and even farm animals like horses and llamas.

He moved to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area with his family in 1999 and after meeting his partner, Rachell, decided to stay and pursue a career as a chef. He worked at local favorites like Fearrington House and Crossroads at the Carolina Inn, serving high-profile guests like Barack Obama and the members of REM.

Since retiring from cooking professionally, Bayard has helped run two comic book shops in the area. When he’s not working, you can find him playing with his three adorable rescue kitties, seeing live music, traveling, or hiking on local trails.
